Mewing is a mouth posture invented by Dr. Mike Mew that maintains closed lips, uses constant nose breathing and rests the tongue against the roof of the mouth to develop healthy facial posture. Mewing propels the bottom jaw forward to develop a healthy facial profile that promotes straight teeth alignment, supports the nose and cheeks, widens the upper jaw and provides access to a full airway for better breathing. I began mewing in 2019 and continue to this day.

My foray into advanced DIY facial care evolved slowly. I had little spare time and money and I integrated new DIY practices into my routine when I was able. Today, I am addicted to my own facial care products. Yes, I love them all, the DIY toners, creams, lotions, deodorants. Love, love, love. I don’t know, on some level it feels like I nurture myself deeply with these beautiful DIY nature-based skin care products and practices.

Over the decades most of my DIY skin moisturizing needs involved adding vitamins, nutraceuticals, and advanced, active, skin care ingredients to retail creams. I rarely used body creams and lotions; I did not like them… too many chemicals. I used a lot of raw oils. In recent years, I began making emulsified creams and while it has been a simple chemistry experiment, I’ve had mixed results, until recently.

Once again, I summarize some of my favorite routines, tools and techniques for healthy skin because they continue to be effective! Its time to ditch some “products” and treatments, save some hard earned bank, reduce waste, promote personal health and reduce synthetic chemical exposure by avoiding processed foods and material goods that are easily replaced with whole natural products straight from the Earth. No doubt, some pre-made stuff is worth buying but rampant consumerism is a burden and appears to be hazardous to the planet and us all.
